Events and Development Assistant (Student Internship)
The Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) has been in existence since 1989 and is the largest Branch of Hockey Canada. Hockey Canada is the national governing body for amateur hockey in Canada and is made up of thirteen provincial and regional Branches. The OHF operates within a structure that is comprised of seven Member Partners: Minor Hockey Alliance of Ontario (ALLIANCE), Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL), Northern Ontario Hockey Association (NOHA), Ontario Hockey Association (OHA), Ontario Hockey League (OHL), Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA), and Ontario Women’s Hockey Association (OWHA). Each operates specific programs in their area or jurisdiction, following Hockey Canada and OHF Regulations, Rules and Policies.
The OHF is inviting applications for a full-time, four-month internship position (January – April). This position will be located at the Federation’s office in Cambridge, Ontario. This internship will assist in the following areas:
- Special Events Coordination
- Communications
- Program Development Administration
- General Office Administration
Responsibilities:
- Assist in collecting information and writing articles for GoldRush Magazine
- Assist in administration for U-15 Program of Excellence
- Assist in the coordination of OHF Championship events
- Assist with regular office administration
- Other duties as required
Requirements
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Strong creative writing skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Able to work effectively under pressure
- Able to tackle new projects independently
- Strong organization skills and attention to detail
- Interest in hockey
- Knowledge of amateur hockey structure within Canada and Ontario
- Computer skills (internet, email, MS Office, MS Access would be beneficial)
- Flexible schedule and possible bi-monthly weekend meeting availability
Remuneration
This position does not offer remuneration.
