OHF Councils and Committees

The OHF values the hard work and dedication of the many volunteers who devote countless hours to the objectives and strategic direction of the Federation. The OHF is supported by various committees and councils each playing a separate yet connected role.

OHF Councils
Each standing Council shall consist of a minimum of three (3) members, no more than two of whom shall represent the same Member Partner.

Minor Council
Two members of each Minor Hockey Member Partner are appointed to the OHF Minor Council. 

The OHF Minor Council aims to develop and administer the Branch Championships; make recommendations to the Board of Directors, manage International Minor Hockey Tours; recommended changes to playing rules, regulations and/or policies for minor hockey in cooperation with the Rules Committee; and continually monitor the needs of minor hockey in the OHF and work in conjunction with other Councils/Committees of the OHF/Hockey Canada to develop, evaluate and implement any projects or programs.

Junior Council
One member from each Member Partner that offers programs in the Junior Division is appointed to Junior Council. 

The OHF Junior Council establishes dates and regulations for Branch Playdowns to determine Branch Champions in applicable categories; recommends International Tours, Tournaments and other relevant events to the OHF Board of Directors; recommends changes to the Rules and Regulations for Junior Hockey in cooperation with other Councils/Committees of the OHF; monitors the needs of Junior Hockey in the OHF; and, establishes development programs and promotional ventures deemed to be beneficial to Junior Hockey.

Hockey Development Council
Two members from each Member Partner may be appointed to the Council. Non-Voting members include: the OHF Referee-in-Chief, a Hockey Canada Centre of Excellence Representative, and the Hockey Development Centre for Ontario (HDCO) Representative. 

The Hockey Development Council formulates and implements hockey development programs and works in concert with Hockey Canada to supervise and encourage their implementation with the OHF.

Senior/Adult Recreational Council
One member from each Member Partner offering Senior and/or Recreational programs will be appointed to this Council.

The OHF Senior/Adult Recreation Council aims to establish and operate Branch Playdowns for each category; make recommendations on International Tours, Tournaments or other events in the OHF to the OHF Board of Directors; recommend amendments to the Rules and Regulations; monitor the needs of these programs in the OHF; and, establish promotional ventures deemed to be beneficial to Senior and Adult Recreational hockey within the OHF.

Female Hockey
Operates under the auspices of the Ontario Women's Hockey Association (OWHA) and the appointed representative reports to the Board of Directors on a continual basis.


OHF Committees
Each standing Committee has a minimum of three (3) members, no more than one (1) of whom shall represent the same Member Partner.

Constitution Committee
This Committee consists of three members of the Board of Directors.
The Constitution Committee edits the Constitution, By-Laws, Rules and Regulations of the OHF before they are published for distribution to members and may recommend changes as it deems advisable in the best interests of the sport of amateur hockey in the Federation.

Finance Committee
The Finance Committee consists of a minimum of three members.  The Committee reviews the finances and expenditures of the OHF and recommends to the Board of Directors any course of action which may deem advisable.  The Committee also monitors the financial affairs and budgets of the Federation and report at each meeting of the Board of Directors.

Rules Committee
The Rules Committee consists of fourteen (14) members that are appointed yearly, which includes one Director and the Referee-in-Chief or equivalent of each Member Partner, and the Referee-in-Chief of the OHF.
The Committee monitors, reviews, and proposes revisions and amendments to the playing rules of the Federation and Hockey Canada for consideration and action.

Risk Management Committee
The Committee is compromised of one person appointed by each Member Partner of the Federation plus a Chair, who is appointed annually by the Board of Directors. 
The Insurance and Risk Management Committee is responsible for the evaluation, development and implementation of all Insurance and Risk Management related activities in the Federation and works in cooperation with the appropriate Committees and Councils of the OHF.

Registration Committee
The Registration Committee consists of four (4) members of the Board of Directors of the Federation. 
The Committee shall have the right in considering and determining questions respecting the application act upon any kind of evidence, circumstantial or direct.
