Hockey Canada
Standard of Play and Rules Emphasis

Hockey Canada is making a strong statement about the future of player development in Canada by implementing the “Standard of Play” and “Rules Emphasis”.

The 2009 – 2010 Rules Emphasis has been approved by the Hockey Canada Board of Directors, and mandates that all Hockey Canada participants are to adhere to these guidelines.  The enforcement of this rules standard in our game will continue to allow for improved skill development and positive hockey experiences.  The mission of Hockey Canada is clear; the game will be enhanced through the application of the standard of enforcement and rules emphasis.  More...

DVD Resource Tool

To get the information out to all involved, Hockey Canada has developed a DVD resource and an area on the Hockey Canada website that provides visual illustrations of all the changes – check out the "It’s A New Game" icon on the Hockey Canada home page.  The DVD provides players and coaches with clear illustrations of restraining fouls and how officials will view these infractions and apply the rules of the game. By eliminating these elements in the game, the emphasis in hockey will return to skill, speed and offensive development.

A copy of this DVD will be made available by your affiliated OHF Member Partner Office.
