STONERIDGE, Ont. - The Burlington Jr Cougars hosted a Minor Novice (7 year olds) MD half-ice Jamboree November 17-18, 2018. The event, held at the Stoneridge Twin Rinks attracted many families who were participating in their first ever tournament-style experience. Teams from both ALLIANCE Hockey and the GTHL participated in the two-day event.

“I am a big believer in the half-ice hockey philosophy mandated by Hockey Canada and this Jamboree was a perfect example of why it works. I was excited to witness the smiles on all of the player’s faces first-hand,” noted Tony Martindale, ALLIANCE Hockey Executive Director. “As an organization, we were able to check off a lot of boxes with this Jamboree in relation to the modified ice mandate. There was an obvious a buzz in the rinks with the players having 23 minutes of ice-time (as opposed to an average of 10 minutes per game). There were more puck touches and fewer whistles with continuous play.”

The Burlington Jr Cougars hosted a first-class event that included goodie bags for each participant and photo sessions with a replica of the Stanley Cup! Congratulations to the hosts and to all of the participants. ALLIANCE Hockey looks forward to hosting many more events like this in the future.
