
Joe McColeman wins the 2019-2020 Dr. Allan Morris Award

Joe McColeman has dedicated most of his adult life to minor hockey, where he has participated as a Coach and Manager in the Greater Sudbury area.
For the last 25 years, Joe has been involved in the Nickel District Hockey League where he has served as President for the last 4 seasons.
He began with NDHL as a Convenor for the Midget age group and has also been in the roles of Director and Vice President.
For the Greater City of Sudbury, Joe is also the Chair of the Joint Rep Committee/AAA Cooperation Committee, a group formed to discuss the formation of a single AAA entity within the City.
He was also previously Manager of Operations; Manager of Volunteers for the 2018 Telus Cup.
Joe’s dedication to the sport, at all levels, is very clear to see. He has even been involved as a community leader in events such as the Special Olympics, Royal Canadian Legion Track and Field Championships and was a founding member of the Sudbury Workers Hockey League in the last 1970s.

The Dr. Allan Morris Award is presented to recognize the outstanding achievement of an individual who has exemplified dedication to amateur hockey and the mission of the Branch. Previously known as the Past Presidents’ Honour Award, it was renamed in 2009 in honour of Dr. Allan Morris, who served as Branch President from 1997-2001 and as Hockey Canada’s Chairman of the Board from 2007 until his passing. Dr. Morris had a profound impact on the game not only within the OHF but throughout the country.
