The OHF announces 30 finalists for the 2021 Scholarship Program

The OHF is proud to announce the 30 individuals awarded with the 2021 Scholarship program grants. The grants are meant to be used to assist 30 outstanding applicants in their post-secondary education for the upcoming school year.

This year presented a new set of challenges for applicants due to the global pandemic, but it didn’t lessen the talent pool and applications. The OHF saw 146 applications for the grant this year, making the application list comparable to the year’s previous during a normal hockey season.

“The Ontario Hockey Federation Scholarship Award celebrates the commitment of young leaders both at the arena and in the classroom,” said Julie Steven’s, OHF Board Director and Chair of the OHF Scholarship Committee.

“Despite the challenges COVID-19 presented for the 2020-2021 season, the applicants for this year demonstrated the unique ways youth contributed to hockey and their community during this difficult time. Congratulations to the final 30 award recipients – your service and leadership qualities are impressive. On behalf of the OHF, I wish each of you the best in your post-secondary education journey.”

Each year, the OHF awards scholarships to outstanding young people who display an incredible amount of commitment both at the arena and in the classroom. The recipients are determined on the basis of academic achievements, hockey involvement and community involvement.

Introduced in 1997 to recognize and reward dedication in education and hockey, the OHF Scholarship provides financial assistance to registered OHF participants to offset the cost of post-secondary education. Since its inception, the OHF has distributed more than $450,000 to over 400 post-secondary students.
