2023-2024 Playing Regulations Announced

CAMBRIDGE, ON – Following its Semi-Annual Meeting of the Members, the Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) is pleased to announce its Playing Regulations for the 2023-24 season. Largely an administrative document, the Playing Regulations govern Members and associations in the consistent delivery of the game within the OHF jurisdiction.

“The changes made to the [Playing] Regulations are reflective of the opinions of many stakeholders within the OHF family,” said Chair of the Board John Kastner. “Thank you to our Members for your continued and ongoing support in creating a player first environment for the many participants within the OHF.”

Noteworthy amendments include:

  • Change terminology from Tryout’s to Player Evaluations
  • Preparation Phase Requirements
  • Player Evaluation Dates & General Rules
  • Spring Programming Opportunities
  • Summer Programing Opportunities
  • Tournament Start Dates
  • OHF Championship Dates (2024)
  • Select & MD Categories Added to U7 & U9

“In creating the final Playing Regulations, the OHF conducted a comprehensive review of our Regulations which included various focus groups and Town Hall meetings,” said Executive Director Phillip McKee. “The final document is representative of the OHF’s commitment to providing quality experiences for every person participating in our game. Thank you to those that contributed in focus groups and Town Halls over the last several months, this could not have been done without your input.”

The amendments made to the Playing Regulations will continue to be monitored over the next several months to ensure that the intended outcomes are achieved, this may come in the form of participant experience surveys and additional focus groups with key stakeholders.
