Sudbury: Rich in History

Sudbury, Ontario is a city not only rich in minerals, but in history, science, education and is famously known for its love of hockey. The city was first established with the transnational railway in 1883 and was originally a lumbering community. With the discovery of precious metals in the late 1800's, the result of a meteor crashing 1.8 billion years ago that created a rich basin of minerals, the community transitioned into a mining community in the early part of the 1900's. It is now the largest Northern Ontario community with a population of over 165,000 and growing. While mining and mining engineering remain at the forefront of its economy, it has diversified as a unique multi-cultural community and is now a major centre for post-secondary education, financial and business services, tourism, health care and research, and government for all of Northern Ontario and its surrounding communities.

Sudbury has top provincial tourism attractions which include Dynamic Earth, The Big Nickel and Science North/lmax Theater. The area is also rich in its offering of outdoor recreational activities in all four seasons. The Greater City of Sudbury is comprised of 330 lakes, including Lake Wanapitei which is the world's largest freshwater lake contained within a single city and Lake Ramsey in the city's urban core. Greater Sudbury has been recognized nationally and globally for its re-greening efforts over the past forty years, highlighting its impact on improvements to the environment.

Copper Cliff Reds Goal

Although being privelaged enough to attend the 2026 OHF Championships as the host team, that is not the end goal for the U13AA Copper Cliff Reds.

The Ultimate Goal? Winning the NOHA's at the season's conclusion to participate in the OHF's as the NOHA Champions, not just the host team.
