Hugh Riddle Recognized with Hockey Canada's Order of Merit (Central)

The Ontario Hockey Federation is proud to recognize Hugh Riddle as a recipient of the Order of Merit (Central), celebrating more than 50 years of leadership, service and dedication to amateur hockey.

Throughout his time in the game, Riddle served as a minor hockey coach, manager, trainer, association president and administrator. He was also a member of the Northern Ontario Hockey Association’s board of directors, serving as vice-president, before contributing three years as a director with the Ontario Hockey Federation.

During his OHF tenure, Hugh has chaired several important committees, including the Minor Committee, Junior Council, Scholarship Committee and Audit Committee.

Beyond the rink, Hugh built an accomplished career in Ontario’s metallurgy and mining industry. Based in Sudbury, he specialized in project management and smelter operations, contributing to major industrial projects in Ontario and internationally.

Now retired, Hugh leaves a lasting legacy of leadership and commitment across both the hockey community and mining sector.
